Internal Job Opportunity - RID Competence Center Manager

The RID Competence Manager is responsible for leading and developing a community of experts supporting all RID. The role ensures a high level of technical expertise, professional development across teams, project and program management across the portfolio.

Lead, manage and coordinate a team:

• Manage project portfolio, forecasted workload and project scoring

• Feed arbitration and prioritization committee in collaboration with the business and growth platforms

• Manage resource allocation of all RID Competence Center in accordance with agreed guidelines validated by Leadership

• Oversee all RID Competence Center Team involved in projects. Challenge project planning and technical decision of any projects to ensure high level of services & quality

• Manage expertise of RID Competence Center Team to ensure expertise transfer and succession planning (including expertise of Product Developer team)

• Respect and enforce the legal and contractual provisions, the employment contract, the value and the quality, safety and applicable environmental procedures.

• Plan and lead a professional interview with each employee. Delegate, by empowering his colleagues and also taking account of their workload, their skills and their evolution potential.

• Conduct recruitment interviews in cooperation with Human Resources. Prepare and plan the integration of a new employee.

Pilot and monitor process & reporting :

• Ensure cross functional coordination and communication with key stakeholders (Business, Operation, Quality, Innovation…)

• Define, pilot and implement tools and KPI  to ensure efficient and optimized management of projects/ portfolio.

• Ensure RID Competence Center Team/Product Developer applies procedures to feed finance reporting and ensure compliance with ISO procedures

• Establish the provisional budget with Business & Manage global Competence Center budget.

We are looking for an engineering profile, with a Master’s degree or a PhD oriented research in chemistry, physics, or paper science, and with proven experience in the direct or functional management of scientific or technical teams. Experience gained in a multi‑site or multi‑product environment is a strong asset. The position requires operational fluency in English, essential for working in an international context and interacting with diverse stakeholders.

From a technical standpoint, the candidate must have an in‑depth knowledge of our products, industrial processes, product development, and engineering methods. The candidate must be able to arbitrate technical decisions, structure methodologies, deploy tools, and manage performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the robustness and efficiency of the Competence Center.

Beyond technical expertise, we are seeking a structuring leader, capable of federating, coaching, and developing expertise within the team. The ideal profile demonstrates rigor, strong organizational skills, anticipation, and an excellent ability to communicate and influence. Adaptability, creativity, priority management, analytical thinking, and the ability to simplify complex systems are key qualities for success in this role.
